The politician revealed his innocence and intention to appeal to the Paris court decision.
Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, who was punished for five years in prison in the case of corruption, announced his readiness to be jailed in prison, while asserting his innocence. BFMTV reported it.
“I’m going to take responsibility, I can fulfill the requirements of the courts. If they really want me to sleep in prison, I can sleep, but in my head I am raised: I am innocent, this injustice is so angry,” the politician said.
At the same time, Sarkozy said he intends to fight for his innocence and appeal.
Note that the Paris court punished Sarkozy, who served as President of France in 2007-2012, by five years in the case of Libyan’s financing of the 2007 election campaign. A fine of 100 thousand euros was also assigned to the former president.
Sarkozy was found guilty of complexity in the criminal group, but was justified by accusations of storing state funds and passive corruption.
