In the European Union countries in 2024, the average life expectancy was 81.7 years, rising 0.3 years compared to 2023. It was reported by the EU Eurostat statistical department.
It was noted that the indicator had reached the record from the beginning of the calculations in 2002, from that moment to the moment it grew 4.1 years.
Among the states of the European Union, the longest hope of life was expected in Italy and Sweden (84.1 years), as well as Spain (84 years). In general, in 15 countries, this indicator exceeds the average level in the EU.
The smallest term in Bulgaria (75.9 years), Romania (76.6 years) and Latvia (76.7 years).
At the same time, a reduction in the expected life expectancy was only recorded in the Netherlands – by 0.2 years (up to 82 years).
Remember that Japan has reached a record number of residents for over 100 years – more than 99,000 people. Women in these statistics make up 88% of the total – 87,784 people, and only 11,979 are men.
