The Kremlin did not agree with all of Donald Trump’s statements about the Russian war against Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov said.
In Moscow, I did not like the latest US President Donald Trump’s statements about Russia and its comparison to the paper Tiger. This was said by Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov in an interview for the RBC on Wednesday, September 24th.
“Russia is not a tiger. However, Russia is more associated with a bear. There are no paper bears,” he said.
Peskov emphasized that in the Kremlin they did not agree with all Trump’s statements regarding the Russian War against Ukraine. According to him, the changing tone of the American leader was connected to his meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
“Mr. Trump heard what was going on in the Zelensky version. And maybe at that moment this version was the reason for the analysis we heard. Here we can’t agree with everything,” Peskov said.
He also commented on the US president’s statement that the Russian economy was collapsed. The Kremlin spokesman believes that the Russian economy was rebuilt for military needs and that there were problems associated with penalties only. He also called the draft budget for the next three years of “fully balanced”.
At the same time, Peskov noted that Putin greatly appreciated Trump’s readiness to help regulate the War of Russia and Ukraine. According to him, Putin and Trump’s conversation has not been planned, but it can be fast.
In his opinion, “Trump cannot see Russia’s readiness for peaceful regulating.”
Peskov added that Putin is said to be “maintaining a readiness” for a meeting with Zelensky, but without the handling-it would be a “PR action that was doomed to failure”.
