The gas processing plant Astrakhan, controlled by Gazprom, stopped the production of motor fuel yesterday, September 22 after a fire caused by drones.
This plant is located near the Caspian Sea in about 1 thousand 675 km from the Ukrainian border.
It is reported by Reuters with reference to three sources in the industry.
According to the sources of the agency, the fire covered the installation of condensation with a capacity of 3 million tons – it produces gasoline and diesel fuel.
According to sources, the plant can restore production only after a few weeks or months.
On September 22, the local governor Igor Babushkin in his telegram stated that the purpose of the drones was an industrial enterprise, which he did not indicate. At the same time, the St. Petersburg commodity exchange stopped the sale of wholesale parties from the plant in Astrakhan since September 22.
The plant also attacked the drones in early February, which led to fuel stops. According to the sources of the agency, the damaged block resumed only at the end of August.
In 2024, the installation processed 1.8 million tons of stable condensate, producing 800 thousand tons of gasoline, 600 thousand tons of diesel fuel and 300 thousand tons of oil.
