In the frozen ownership of Russia, about 175 billion euros are currently collected, a significant part of which is already used in the framework of G7 programs to support Ukraine.
The European Union is actively working on developing mechanisms for the use of Russian -owned frozen property to provide financial assistance to Ukraine, which is especially required of resources in war conditions. On Saturday, September 20, Bloomberg reports.
According to the publication, Economics Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis said after a meeting of EU finance ministers in Copenhagen with a willingness to cooperate in creating reparative loans. He emphasized the importance of the rapid preparation of this mechanism, as EU member countries see a real solution to it.
At the same time, the European Commission offers a format for the use of property, which eliminates their confiscation. According to Bloomberg’s resources, frozen funds can be bonds, leaving legal rights to Russia for these funds. In this regard, these resources will be transferred to Ukraine as loans that do not need to be restored, provided that Russia cannot repay the damage caused by the war.
According to the publication, approximately 175 billion euros are currently collected cash from the ownership of Russian frozen, a significant component used in the framework of G7 programs to support Ukraine. The balance of nearly 130 billion euros will be shared with additional guarantees from EU member states to ensure the legitimacy of this mechanism. Dombrovskis also noted that this method should be measured in other G7 countries.
It is also noted that financial assistance from international allies depends on Ukraine’s needs. Finance minister Sergei Marchenko had earlier announced an unpredictable budget shortage of $ 18.1 billion for 2026.
As we have written, in the European Union we have begun to officially discuss the procedure for increasing revenue from frozen Russian properties to compensate for damage to Ukraine.
And recently, the final negotiation of negotiations with payments for Ukraine began in the Hague.
The United States recommends that Russia’s frozen possessions regularly move to Ukraine
