In Ankara, the S-400 complexes were not integrated into the NATO structures, and the resource of their missiles was exhausted.

Russia turned to Turkey with a proposal to return two S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, sold in Ankara in 2017 for $ 2.5 billion and moved in 2019. It is known from the publication message Military, military, that determines the Turkish resource of NEFES.

The initiative was explained by the lack of such systems in the Russian reserve and the growth of demand for them from other countries. In Turkey, the S-400 complexes were not integrated into NATO structures, and the resource of their missiles was exhausted. In addition, they require maintenance, which increases costs for Ankara.

Meanwhile, Türkiye is actively working on its own air defense system called Steel Domewhich gives up the reduction of reliance on Russian technologies. Another motivation for Ankara is the desire to achieve the elimination of US penalties imposed under Caatsa law after purchase of S-400. These penalties have led to Turkey’s exclusion from the F-35 fighter production program.

Russia considers the issue of replenishment of the S-400 reserves as a priority due to front losses and the growth of external demand for these complexes. Due to the specified reserve deficiency, there are no systems available except those used.

So far, there is no official response from Turkey, but resources are reporting a positive attitude to a proposal. According to information PoliceEarlier, Russia has delayed the supply of the latest S-400 for India, which has moved terms by 2026–2027 due to its own needs.

It is noteworthy that Ukrainian defense forces actively destroy Russian air defense systems, including the S-400. Recently, the Russian Radar, which was part of the S-400 Complex, and later GUR’s special forces, was affected by Crimea Ghost It is a liquid of many more air defense facilities in the same region, which also has radar stations from the S-400.
