In Belarus today, September 11, a meeting of the self -destroyed President Alexander Lukashenko was held with the special representative of US President Donald Trump John Cole.
This was reported on the opposition of the Belarusian telegram Nexta.
As a result of the meeting, it became known that:
- The United States raised sanctions from Belrussian Airlines, which have been operating since 2021 after a forced landing in Belarus Ryanair, which was on board the activist and journalist Roman Protasevich;
- Lukashenko fired 52 political prisoners, including opposition figures (in particular, the former presidential candidate Mikola Statkevich, detained in 2020), journalists, protests and citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. A total of 14 foreigners and 38 Belarusian;
- Cole at a meeting with Lukashenko announced that the United States wanted to return their embassy to Minsk.
