“Satellite and other images from the site show that only one building was damaged in the attack, the walls of this building were not destroyed, and there were no shell craters around, which strongly indicates that the destruction of prison is the result of either a targeted strike, or planted inside an incendiary or explosive,” analysts said.
The Kremlin claims that Ukraine hit the correctional facility at HIMARS, but there are no traces to prove this on the territory of the colony.
ISW quoted a US official in the report as telling Politico that “evidence points to an attack that was not carried out by Kyiv.”
“If Ukraine had used something other than HIMARS to strike, the attack would almost certainly have left collateral damage around the facility, including craters and other damaged buildings. Given the assessment of the US that HIMARS was not used in the attack, ISW believes that Russia is responsible for this attack on Ukrainian prisoners of war in violation of the Geneva Conventions,” military experts asserted.
Remember, on July 29, the self-proclaimed “DPR” announced the shelling of the Yelenovskaya colony of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which contained Ukrainian prisoners of war. According to various sources, from 40 to 53 people died.
