Penny Mordaunt spoke publicly in favor of the choice of British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss as leader of the Conservative Party.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who claims to be the country’s prime minister and leader of the Conservative Party, has received the support of her former main rival, Penny Mordaunt. On Monday, August 1, Reuters reports.

Mordaunt announced his support for the Foreign Secretary at a meeting of party members in Exeter, calling Truss the “candidate of hope”.

“I made my choice – I know it’s difficult because I like both candidates. I want to say good things about both of them – that’s why I probably came third. I saw enough to know who that person is, on I’m going to rely . And that’s Liz Truss,” Mordont said.

Penny Mordont, who was the last to be eliminated in the first stage of the race, added that Truss could beat any competitor.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked a colleague for his support, saying it was “amazing”.

Voting among Conservative Party members will end on September 2, and on September 5 the winner will be announced. He will replace Boris Johnson as British Prime Minister.

Truss has previously revealed who she will call first when she takes over as prime minister.
