OSINT methods (open reconnaissance resources) have helped confirm the presence of 2577 military personnel in captivity.
Ukraine has confirmed the stay in captivity of more than 2500 military using osint technologies. This was announced by the commissioner for people missing under special events Arthur Dobroserdov, the Ministry of Internal Reports in Ukraine.
As Dobroserdov noted at a meeting with mission representatives of independent experts of Moscow Osce Moscow mechanism, the common goal is to restore every home of Ukrainian, giving that war prisoners maintain the status of the missing until the moment of return.
According to him, OSINT techniques are used (open sources of intelligence, or intelligence in open resources), with the help of which the stay in captivity of 2577 military personnel has been confirmed.
In addition, information about 680 people, including 91 civilians, has not been confirmed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
There are also 8 cases when people identified as prisoners are subsequently discovered in the dead. For six of them, the ICRC did not confirm information about its stay in captivity.
It is expected that by the end of September, independent experts at OSCE will publish a report on Russian violations of OSCE obligations, abuses and human rights violations.
Remember that from the beginning of 2025, 3089 decisions have been made to confirm the reality of seizing personal independence as a result of the armed aggression against Ukraine.
As reported, in recent years, Ukraine has many times returned its citizens from Russian captivity. On August 24, it is possible to return the military personnel to the Armed Forces, the National Guard, Border Guards, as well as civilians.
Earlier, on August 14, Ukraine and Russia held the 67th exchange of prisoners. 84 Ukrainians return home – 33 military and 51 civilians.
