The authorities intend to evacuate more than 200 thousand people from the Donetsk region, many of whom are children.

The state will provide displaced residents of the Donetsk region with free transportation and additional payments. This was announced on Monday, August 1, by the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Irina Vereshchuk on the air of an information telethon.

He noted that in relation to the Donetsk region, a decision was made on the mandatory evacuation of residents, which consists in the fact that the state provides free logistics, accommodation and guarantees people all kinds of payments.

“We know where we should take people, where to put them, where they will spend the winter, where their children. And above all, for what people will live,” Vereshchuk emphasized.

The vice-premier noted that in addition to payments guaranteed by the state, additional assistance is provided for people taken outside the Donetsk region.

“For example, a one-time payment that will be given immediately upon arrival – in cash, to each person who arrives at the evacuation sites. Also UNICEF international assistance if there are children. The UN, the Red Cross and other organizations that have been coordinated and they are waiting for such people,” emphasized Vereshchuk.

He emphasized that the residents of Donbass need to evacuate now during the hot weather and not wait for autumn.

“Don’t wait until it will be more difficult to do it later because of the battles. And because of the fact that we really won’t be able to provide heat to people to heat their homes,” explained Vereshchuk.

He noted that more than 200 thousand people had to be evacuated from the Donetsk region, and many thousands of children were among them.

“We understand that there are people with limited mobility, the elderly, women with small children, often families with many children. There are trains and transportation for such people. We are ready to help them get to platform and help them get from All these processes are thought out” – said Vereshchuk.

He added that residents evacuated from the Donetsk region will settle in the central and western regions of Ukraine.

“There are already their compatriots there. Now, for example, Poltava and Poltava region are 200,000 displaced people. Sociology shows that 94% of displaced Ukrainians and Ukrainian women want to stay there forever,” said Vereshchuk.

He also emphasized that the authorities have nothing to do with businessmen who need large sums of money to get people out of the temporarily occupied regions.

“There are unscrupulous businessmen who profit from human misfortune. We are working closely with law enforcement agencies and special services to restore order. For such things are unacceptable in times of war. Know we have a problem. And there are actually volunteers from God who go and risk their lives, evacuate people, and there are those who make money. They receive money from international organizations and free fuel, and then also ask they money to people for a place,” said Vereshchuk.

The previous day, the Russians fired an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) at an evacuation bus in the Kherson region.
