The difference between more than 12 thousand people marks a new trend in the economic movement of the poles.
According to statistics for 2024, 76,320 poles arrived in Germany, while 88,388 decided to return to their homeland. This was reported by The Times.
This is the first case from the moment of the fall of the Berlin wall, when the number of return exceeds the number of emigrants leaving Germany.
For more than 20 years after Poland entered the EU, more than 2.5 million poles were left in Germany. Now the situation has changed: one of the main factors of return is called the dynamic development of the Poland economy.
The salary gap between countries is significantly reduced. In 2004, the average annual salary in Germany was about 30 thousand euros, in Poland – 6 thousand euros. Now in Germany, the average salary is 48 thousand euros, while in Poland – almost 25 thousand euros.
In addition, the cost of life in Poland, especially housing, food and child care, remains less than Germany.
Experts have noted that economic factors that have previously been attracted to Germany poles have now lost their strength.
Earlier, the Minister of Internal Law of Germany, Alexander Dobrindt announced his desire to strengthen the country’s transfer policy following the Denmark example.
Germany will enhance the transition control
