Ukraine and Russia are not ready for bilateral negotiations, the American president said.
President Donald Trump confirmed the possibility of trilateral negotiations at the end of the war in Ukraine, with Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. He said this in an interview with the Daily Caller on Saturday, August 30th.
“The process of communicating with tripartite will take place,” said the American leader.
Donald Trump said Ukraine and Russia are not yet ready for bilateral negotiations.
“Bilateral, I don’t know, but trilateral will happen. You know, sometimes people are not ready for it. I use an analogy. You have a child, and there is another child on the site. They hate each other and start to go. You want them to stop, but they will continue. After a while they want to stop. Sometimes they have to fight a little before you can.
The US president also confirmed that there are no American troops as part of the security guarantee in Ukraine. But if Europe gives the military presence, the Americans will support it.
So, in response to the journalist’s direct question about whether the US military was present in Ukraine after the end of the war, Trump said no. But Trump has not ruled that the United States will help European countries to ensure guarantees for Ukraine. We are with the air support.
“Maybe we will do something … if I can stop it (the war in Ukraine-ed.) And occasionally to fly in the air by plane, major Europeans, but we will help them. They know, they need it to a certain extent, and we will help them if we can,” Trump said.
He admitted that it was impossible to do without providing security guarantees in Ukraine. But to give them, he repeated, would be Europe.
“I don’t think it can be solved without a security guarantee, and we won’t have farm troops or something else. But if we help Europe, and they will do it, they will go,” the President of the United States summarizes.
Earlier, Donald Trump re -promised dedicated actions in the Russian Federation through the next “two weeks” if Putin did not agree at a meeting with Zelensky. And before that, he called Russia’s statements about the “illegal” of the President of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the day before the Kremlin explained their position at the meeting of Putin and Zelensky.
