The protest against the opening of the national military memorial cemetery was organized by peasants.
On Friday, August 29 in the village of Margalivr, the Kyiv region, local residents went to a peaceful rally. Earlier, the peasants have already protested against the construction of the memorial in this area. Local residents believe that the proximity of the future cemetery to settlements will affect their superficial waters, because the cemetery is planned to be equipped in a place with high underground waters, that is, supposedly in a swamp. Markhalivka support announced a protest on Facebook.
Today, some residents of Margalivr went to meet with the first persons of the state to open the cemetery, with posters and express a peaceful protest. The perimeter was guarded by the police, which detained almost a dozen peasants who came to peaceful actions.
We will recall that on August 29, the official opening of the National Military Memorial Cemetery took place in Margalivka from the Kyiv region. Today the first burials were held there – the military ceremony of unknown soldiers. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski, President of Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Minister of Defense Denis Schmigal, Minister of Veteranov Natalya Kalmikova, was present on the spot.
