The European Union continues to import liquid natural gas from Russia. This has been proven by EU Eurostat’s statistical agency data, Spiegel reports.

It was noted that in the first half of 2025, the EU imported liquid natural gas from the Russian Federation worth about 4.48 billion euros. It was 29% more than the same period last year.

In general, in the first six months of this year, LNG has been imported for about 26.9 billion euros. Most of these values – approximately 13.7 billion euros – fell into the United States. According to the European Commission, the United States was the LNG’s largest supplier in the EU last year, they cost about 45% of the total imports of imports.

Unlike fossil types, such as oil and coal, the EU has not yet imposed gas penalties due to hope. The gas continues to enter the EU in the form of liquid natural gas through the Turkish stream pipeline.

According to the EC, in 2024, gas supplies from Russia make up about 19% of all imports. According to the EU Eurostat statistics agency, last year, natural and processed gas was imported from Russia for 15.6 billion euros. For comparison, gas was received from the United States for 19.1 billion euros.

Remember that the European Union has refused to introduce the ban on the import of Russian liquid natural gas to future penalties.
