The European Union is currently not discussing the removal of sanctions against Russia, but on the contrary, it plans to strengthen the penalty pressure in Russia.
The European Union does not plan to cancel or soften sanctions against Russia. Instead, he prepares a new, 18 -19th penalty package, which could adopt in September 2025. It was stated by the Deputy Main Press Secretary of the European Commission Arianna Podest, reports European Pravda.
“Europe will maintain pressure in Russia … We have already accepted 18 packages of penalties and working on the 19th,” he said.
According to him, the EU will receive the 19th package of sanctions against Russia next month – that is, in September.
“We know that the penalties work, and we maintain pressure in Russia. Everything else is pure imagination. Reality: Europe continues to maintain full pressure in Russia,” Arianna Podesta emphasized.
According to Europe’s reality, two European officials and diplomats of four states working in Brussels and knowing the processes around the introduction and implementation of EU penalties against Russia also said that the discussion of weakening or removal of penalties is currently not even under the technical level.
“This question is not on the agenda right now. By contrast, the job continues to boost the penalty pressure in Russia, its economy to reduce the ability to war against Ukraine. A new, 19 -19 -pack of penalties has been discussed,” one of the interlocutors confirmed.
Remember that in July the European Union finally approved 18 packages of sanctions against Russia, which included a reduction in the price ceiling for oil.
It has also been reported that Switzerland has introduced additional restrictions against Russia, joining the 18th package of penalties in the EU.
