Latvia urged to limit the entry of Russians into the EU

Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevich condemned Russia’s brutal killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Yelenovka.

Latvia has again proposed to introduce a ban on issuing EU tourist visas to Russians after the terrorist attack in Yelenovka. This is what the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics said on Twitter.

“I condemn the brutal killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian armed forces in Yelenovka and the ongoing atrocities committed by the Russian military against Ukraine. The EU should consider Russia a sponsor of terrorism of the state, I repeat the proposal to introduce a ban on EU tourist visas for Russian citizens,” the head of the Latvian MFA.

Note that Latvia decided to stop issuing visas to Russians on February 24th. At the same time, the Saeima of Latvia called for a ban on the granting of Schengen visas to citizens of the Russian Federation on February 23. Then the corresponding statement was made by the deputy Rihards Kols.
