Ukraine launches Starlink directly in Cell among the first in the world.
The Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov announced this on August 12 on August 12 on his Facebook page.
Together with the CEO of Kyivstar, Alexander Komarov protested against Starlink directly in Cell. This technology will allow Ukrainians to stay on a mobile network from -SMS, ”he said.
According to Fedorov, users will not need to buy expensive equipment-4G equipment with a SIM card or ESIM card card.
Ukrainians will be able to remain in touch in hard places: in the mountains, in bad weather, network failures or devices. The main condition for technology is the direct visibility of the sky. During the meeting, we successfully exchanged the first text messages through the satellite just from smartphones, ”said Fedorov.
The minister emphasized that Ukraine is launched directly in Cell in one of the first countries – along with the USA, Australia, Japan, Canada and New Zealand.
Despite the war, we continue to develop innovative solutions, because a reliable connection for each Ukrainian is one of our key priorities, ”he emphasized. -For the technology, beta -testing passes, and the official launch is scheduled for this fall.
The Kyivstar press release shows that technological tests during which Fedorov and Komarov exchanged text messages sent directly from smartphones through the satellite, took place in the Zhytomyr region, Mediasat reports.
It is noted that this technology allows the owners of ordinary 4G smartphones to connect directly to the satellites in the absence of a signal of the ground network.
The exchange of text messages for Kyivstar subscribers is scheduled for the fall of 2025. This will be the first step in the introduction of “direct to mobile communications” technologies in Ukraine.
The function of transmitting mobile data, which will open a web page and sends multimedia messages, is developing. It will gradually become affordable because the power of the network will improve and launches new satellites.
The company is negotiating with smartphone manufacturers to update software – in the future it will allow you to start the exchange of messages through popular Viber, WhatsApp and Telegram Messengers.
