Today, the former president of Georgia was transferred from the prison to the Vivamedi clinic for treatment.
Mikheil Saakashvili intends to leave politics. This was said on Saturday, July 30, by the lawyer of the third president of Georgia, Valery Gelbakhiani, writes the Echo of the Caucasus.
“Saakashvili, who is currently serving a term in prison, wants to take time for his health,” the politician’s lawyer said.
At the same time, he specified that he intended to leave the United National Movement party that he founded.
“The main task of the agenda is the preservation and safety of his life. Therefore, all other issues are removed. He generally comes from Georgian politics, not only from the National Movement. Now it is a matter of life and death, not politics. Obviously, the work is completely different, than before he returned,” said the lawyer.
It will be recalled that Mikheil Saakashvili was detained last fall after returning to his homeland. In protest, the politician went on a hunger strike, which he stopped and resumed several times. According to Saakashvili’s lawyers, family and supporters, his state of health is very serious and he needs medical treatment abroad. Today, the president was transferred from the prison to the Vivamedi clinic.
Remember, on February 21, it was learned that Saakashvili went on hunger strike again.
Let’s add that on November 20, 2021, Mikhail Saakashvili ended his 50-day hunger strike.
