“Shocked and appalled by Russia’s killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Yelenovskaya penal colony. This arbitrary war against Ukraine is a gross violation of international law and human rights. We strongly condemn such actions and calling for an international investigation and sanctions,” Sandu wrote.
It should be noted that the world responded to the killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war, who were the defenders of Azovstal. The UN said they were shocked by what happened. British Permanent Representative to the UN Barbara Woodward called on Russia to end the war, withdraw its troops and abide by the organization’s charter. At the same time, US Permanent Representative Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that Russia is actually “burning the UN Charter.”
As reported, on July 29, the Russian invaders carried out a terrorist act in the Yelenovka prison, where they kept captured Ukrainian soldiers, including those from Azov. 53 people died and dozens more were injured.
Later, the Russian Embassy in the UK said that the Ukrainian servicemen from the Azov Regiment “deserved a shameful death” – hanging. The message of the appeal was published on Twitter by the Russian embassy.
