Now the peace agreement must adopt the parliaments of the signature countries. Its text consists of 17 points, which now remain confidential, though some aspects are already known. The document aims to normalize interstate relationships through mutual recognition of territorial sovereignty and integrity, and also provides for the stimulation of economic relationships.
One of the key provisions of the agreement is the plan for creating a transit route through the Zangezur corridor, which provides a message between the main part of Azerbaijan and its Enclave – yields. According to information prevalent in the media, the document also includes parties’ obligations to abandon international court claims and establish a ban on the expansion of military forces of third countries on the common border.
Other previously published clauses of the agreement are associated with coordination of boundaries, exchange of prisoners and introducing steps to support refugees and internal transferred people. Thus, the document has the potential to be a comprehensive basis for solving a prolonged conflict and establishing stable cooperation between the two states.
Trump also said the United States would work with Armenia in the development of a transit corridor in Azerbaijan.
The White House leader also said the United States was removing restrictions on cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of security, introduced in 1992.
Remember that Trump planned to arrange a meeting with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the White House, hoping to achieve a historical peace agreement between the two countries that had long been in a state of armed confrontation.
In March, it was learned about an important success in the negotiation process, which ended with the preparation of the DRAFT peace agreement. However, its exact date of signing is still unsure.
