The forced eviction of nearly 20 thousand Ukrainian children is a clear violation of international law.
The International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, created as part of the UKRAINE president’s initiative will return the children to the UA, called to the Russian Federation without delay and any conditions to restore stolen Ukrainian children. A joint statement was signed by 38 countries, the European Council and the European Union, the Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday, August 5.
During a bilateral meeting in Istanbul on June 2, the Ukrainian government gave Russia an original list of 339 Ukrainian children illegally deported to the Russian Federation or forced to be transferred from temporary occupied Ukraine territories, with an official request for their immediate return and unconditional return.
The document also called for a change in children’s identity, specifically forced citizenship changes, transfer to Russian families or institutions, ideological zombie and participation in militarization.
“The forced dismissal of nearly 20 thousand Ukrainian children is a frankly violation of international law. These children should be restored. We encourage Russia to start with 339 children identified by Ukraine. The EU is trying to erase their identity,” said the high -EU EU, Vice -President of the European Commission, Kai Palas.
A joint statement of the coalition was supported by: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechteteintein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Malt Moldova, the Netherlands, Northern Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom, European Union (Observer), Switzerland (Observer) and European Council.
