The head of the European Commission called the Nabu Independence Law and the SAP of the President of Ukraine a positive step.
Ukraine for joining the European Union should proceed with reforms in the field of law management and the resistance to corruption. This was announced by European Commission leader Ursula Von der Lyain on Social Network X on Thursday, July 31.
He responded to the NABU and Cap Independence Law’s signing of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and called it “positive steps.”
“The reform of the rules of law and the resistance to corruption in Ukraine must continue. They remain key to the Ukraine’s advancement by the European Way. The EU will continue to support these efforts,” Von der Lyain said.
As you know, on July 22, Verkhovna Rada voted for Bill No. 12414 in the second reading and limited independence of NABU and SAP. This caused protests in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine. At first, people asked to treat the law, and then cancel.
On July 24, against the remembrance of Western partners, Zelensky introduced a Rada bill, which provides for the cancellation of previous law’s restrictions.
And now Verkhovna Rada is supported by the Bill of President No. 13533 to restore the independence of Nabu and SAP. Today, the head of the state has signed a document.
