France officially recognizes Palestine as a state.
Politico said that President Emmanuel Macron was declared this. He plans to announce this in September at the UN General Assembly.
Macron called this a step towards the “fair and stronger world in the Middle East.” This initiative was supported by Saudi Arabia, but the conference did not take place from the Israeli attacks on gas.
Although he initially supported Israel after the Hamas attack in 2023, in recent months his position changed to critical from the news from Gaza.
Palestine as a state was recognized by 143 of 193 countries of the United Nations, including Ukraine.
In Europe, these are Serbia, Albania, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Georgia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Iceland, Sweden, Ireland, Spain, Norwegian, Sloves, Army.
But France will be the first “heavy” continent to do this. The United Kingdom can follow him.
It should be noted that both the largest Jewish community and the largest community of Muslims in Europe live in France, so this is often invested in clashes and aggression on the streets.
The United States has already criticized the decision. The Secretary of State Marco Rubio called him “victims of October 7” and “Hamas propaganda”.
