The Russian Federation’s car market for the first half of the year was reduced by nearly 40% in the medium -tonnage trucks segment, by 30% in the segment of light commercial vehicles and by 60% of buses.
After Russia’s largest car manufacturer – Avtovaz – the move to the short working week was announced due to a sharp collapse in the car market, the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) made a similar decision. The Moscow Times reported this on Thursday, July 24.
Since the beginning of August, the plant in Nizhny Novgorod will operate in a four -day mode.
This is a forced step against the background of a crisis in the commercial transport market, the company said.
“Due to the high key rate and the absence of available financial instruments for the purchase of transportation, the market in the first half of the year fell nearly 40% in the segment of medium -tonnage trucks, by 30% in the lungs in the segment of light commercial cars, and 60% of buses,” Russian manufacturers complained.
As mentioned, the reduction in working week aims to protect the team, adaptation of current demand and equal load distribution. At the same time, the company reduces costs in different places.
From July 21 to August 3, employees are on a planned vacation while saving wages. Some units continue to work according to individual graphics. After a vacation, until the end of August, the plant will work in a four -day mode. In the future, the work schedule will be determined monthly depending on the market situation.
Avtovaz also reported on the move to a similar regime on July 22. They also explained this by falling into sales caused by the high rates of the central Russian Federation’s high rates and competition from imported cars. According to the company’s forecast, in 2025, the market for cars in the Russian Federation could be reduced by 25% – up to 1.1 million units.
Remember that in Russia for six months they were able to sell only a Lada electric car.
In Russia, they complained that the Russians had stopped buying Lada
