Ukraine will receive T-72 tanks from North Macedonia, which the country planned to withdraw from service in the coming years.
The transfer of tanks to Ukraine was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense of this country after footage of a convoy of the corresponding military equipment appeared on social networks. This was announced today, July 29, by the Macedonian edition of RTS.
A column of Macedonian tanks headed for Ukraine on Thursday, the Defense Ministry confirmed, saying they were “third-generation” tanks from a battalion that will soon be disbanded, the newspaper notes.
The agency does not specify how many tanks are being transferred to Ukraine, but it is known that the Macedonian army was armed with 31 vehicles of this type.
The transfer of tanks to Ukraine in Macedonia is motivated by the fact that with the development of technology in a few years they will be uncompetitive and incompatible due to the transition of this country to Western military equipment, and also by the fact that North Macedonia, as a NATO member, respects territorial integrity, sovereignty and law to self-defense Ukraine, and also condemns Russian aggression.
