Former Street Cat has a special status, protection and nearly a million subscribers on Instagram.
In Indonesia, the country’s cat’s cat, whose name is Bobby Kertanegar, is in Indonesia.
According to the South China Morning Post, the head of the state leader received an official status, the right to protect and access public service.
Deputy Secretary of State Yuri Ardiantoro explained that the animal is considered part of the President’s property, which means it requires proper state protection.
“The point is not only the president, but also the state is responsible for the President’s possession,” he emphasized.
A wave of discussions rose after Bobby appeared in the event of Cat Lovers Social Day 2025, where he was taken to the stage on a special animal trolley, accompanied by some guards. The video from the event quickly went viral, and the comments were divided into the Internet: some were angry because of the “waste” of the budget, others joked that it was better than if the money went to the officials.
Bobby started his story on the street. Pabovo took him about nine years ago, and the cat has since become part of the President’s family. Now Bobby has his own Instagram account, where nearly one million subscribers follow him.
