The European Union no longer agreed to impose new sanctions against the Russian Federation.
On Tuesday, July 15, the EU foreign ministers could not agree on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. Representatives of Slovakia and Malta opposed the imposition of sanctions. The journalist Radio Liberty Ricard Jezvyak reported this on the social network X.
Today there is no green light for sanctions against Russia. Both Malt and Slovakia said for various reasons that they could not agree today. This can happen tomorrow when the EU ambassadors meet, ”he wrote.
Earlier it was reported that the 18th package will include, in particular, the dynamic formation of a ceiling of prices for Russian oil, a ban on the operation of Nord Stream and North Stream-2 gas pipelines, and new restrictions on Russian banks.
We recall that the ambassadors of the European Union on July 9 could not agree on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia through a veto on Slovakia. The office of Robert Fitzo insisted that Bratislav would not support any new package of sanctions without guarantees of the European Commission on the initiative of REPEWEREU.
