If violations are detected, restrictions may be imposed on ships: from increasing monitoring of integration to the penalties register.
Germany has strengthened the steps against Russia’s “Shadow Fleet”, which increases the control of tanks in its territorial waters from July 1. This is stated in the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, July 1.
Now all the tanks passing through German water must confirm the protection of insurance against the damage caused by oil pollution. According to the department, information on the insurance scope of these courts often remains unknown, as they use the services of dangerous insurance organizations or prevent European ports and administration.
The Minister of Transport Patrick Schneider emphasized the importance of such steps in the Baltic Sea region. He noted that checking the insurance status fits into the overall picture of the situation, allowing you to react faster in collaboration with partners. This may include the introduction of dangerous ships to the list of penalties.
It is noted that new requirements are part of the Pan -european initiative to prevent Russia’s “shadow fleet”. Such fleets include old tankers that use risky navigation methods to avoid penalties. If violations are detected, the courts may impose restrictions: from increasing monitoring of the integration to the penalties register.
The restrictions are concentrated on ships running east of the island of Femarn in the Baltic Sea. According to Foreign Affairs minister Johanna Vadul, these steps aim to increase pressure on the “Shadow Fleet” and protect the Baltic Sea Ecosystem.
Keep in mind that Russia is open to defending the “shadow of the Armada” with military forces, which can be a test for the international community to allow the penalties to strengthen.
Earlier it was reported that the Vilamaura oil tanker exploded on the Libya coast, carrying 1 million oil barrels. The ship entered the Russian ports twice.
