US President Donald Trump canceled the sanctions imposed against Syria in 2004. These restrictions will be discontinued today to support the country’s path to “stability and the world”.
This is indicated in gifts published on the web site of the White House.
At the same time, the United States retain restrictions against the overthrow of the expansion of Bashar al -Assad and his partners. The restrictions will also act in relation to “human rights violators, drug dealers and persons related to chemical weapons, IDIL or their branches, as well as with their Iranian intermediaries.”
The Trump Resolution says that the document also allows us to weaken export control to certain goods and cancel the restrictions on external assistance in Syria, as well as revise the status of the temporary leader Ahmed al-Sharaa as a terrorist.
According to Brad Smith Deputy Minister of Finance and Financial Intelligence, this decision should “put an end to the country from the international financial system, create conditions for global trade and stimulate investments from neighboring countries and the United States”.
The decision was the result of the agreements reached during the meeting of Donald Trump with the new President of Syria Ahmad al-Sharaa, which took place in May.
