The Russian Foreign Minister has reviewed the growth of the costs of the North Atlantic Alliance as a “disaster”.
NATO countries should not increase defense costs to 5% of GDP if they want to maintain their alliance. This opinion was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Monday, May 30.
The Russian minister commented on the statement of Poland Radoslav’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Russia is awaiting Putin due to the development of military spending.
“He probably assumed, if he was like a seer who was the catastrophe, according to my estimates, the increase in the budget of NATO countries would also lead to the collapse of this organization,” Lavrov said following a meeting of the leaders of the foreign ministry of CSTO countries.
The minister recalled that recently the head of Kremlin Vladimir Putin was announced by a reduction in military costs, that part of the Russian Federation budget has reached a record value since the USSR. Lavrov praised Putin for saying “guided by the common sense, and not fiction and not sucking from his finger, just as the members of the NATO do.”
Note that last week, at the Hague Summit, leaders of NATO countries approved record costs at 5% of GDP defense. Also, in the final declaration, Russia is called a long -term serious threat to Euro -Andlantic security.
