The United States successfully repelled the Iranian missile attack on its base in Qatar.
During the last Iranian missile strike at the Al-Idea air base, the most combat use of the Patriot’s air defense systems was performed in the history of the United States. This was stated on June 26 by the chairman of the United Committee of the Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Razin Kane, Business Insider and TWZ.
According to the general, this attack of Iran was a response to recent American aircraft on three nuclear facilities of Iran. The Americans received a warning about a probable attack on Monday, but 44 American troops remained in al-Yideid. And it was this detachment that repelled the attack from the air.
The Iranians sent more than 10 ballistic missiles to the air base, but the US and Qatar systems of the patriot were able to completely neutralize the threat in the air. None of the missiles reached the goal, no one was injured.
Kane said that two Petriot batteries were controlled by 44 American soldiers, and the crews had only about two minutes to answer. The oldest of them was a 28-year-old captain, and the younger was a 21-year-old soldier. The military acted in accordance with a clearly defined protocol, and the launch of each Patriot missile was accompanied by an accurate goal.
Imagine for a minute, here you are the first lieutenant, you are about 25-26 years old, you were entrusted with the role of a tactical leader in the management and control group. An early notification operator is sitting next to you. Inside the car – five, outside – five, in total – 44.
The general called this event as a real flurry of metal garbage – all Iran’s missiles were destroyed in the air. He added that at present the US command believes that this was their largest salvo in the history of the United States Army. At the same time, Kane refused to name the exact number of working interceptors.
We recall that on June 23, Tehran began the operation “Basharat al-Fat” against the US military bases. Iran released about 10 missiles. The number of missiles that Iran got to the American base in Qatar corresponded to the number of bombs that the United States fell on Iran.
