A Russian delegation has visited an Iranian airport at least twice in recent weeks to inspect drones the aggressor country wants to acquire for use in the war against Ukraine.
White House sees “no sign” of Russian purchase of Iranian drones. This is what the coordinator for strategic communication of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, said on Tuesday, July 26, saying goodbye Lara Seligman, Pentagon correspondent for Politico.
Kirby noted that Western sanctions are harming the defense complex of the Russian Federation. In this regard, Moscow “has difficulties in deploying the latest methods.”
“We have not found any evidence of the delivery or purchase of Iranian drones by the Russian Ministry of Defense,” he said.
Still, the very fact that Vladimir Putin sought a deal shows that sanctions are working, Kirby added.
It was previously reported that US intelligence had learned of Iran’s intention to provide Russia with several hundred unmanned aerial vehicles, including combat ones. The United States suggested that the need to buy this weapon was probably due to the Russian Federation’s heavy losses in the war against Ukraine.
In this regard, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein-Amir Abdollahian said that Tehran does not help any of the parties in the war in Ukraine.
It will be recalled that on July 18-19, a trilateral summit was held in Tehran, in which the leaders of Iran, Turkey and Russia took part.
