The man has worked with the Ministry of Public Security for decades and has received a bribe of nearly $ 17 million.
Former China’s leading official of the Ministry of Public Security was punished for death for about $ 17 million. At the same time, the court’s decision provides a sentence delay for two years. On Monday, June 23, China Daily reported.
We are talking about 66-year-old Liu Yuezzin, who began working at the Ministry of Public Security (MGB) in 1974 and worked for almost 50 years in various positions, completing his career as head of drug control and drug control, equivalent to the deputy minister’s post.
Liu is also a delegate of the 13th Congress of the People’s Political Council of China, the highest political body of the PRC, whose participation is considered honorable and evidence of a significant influence and recognition of the state’s merits of the delegate.
In March of last year, with the suspicion of corruption and acceptance of bribes on a particularly large scale, the MGB’s top-officer was expelled from the Communist Party and a criminal case opened against him.
As an established investigation, during his career at the MGB in 1992 – 2020, Li abused his posts to get benefits in favor of other departments and companies on various issues, in particular, doing business and funding. In exchange for his illegal services, he received a bribe of more than 121 million yuan ($ 16.83 million).
In China, the amount of illegal acquired benefits is considered overwhelming and suffering from major harm to the country and the people, and is usually punished by the death penalty.
In Liu’s case, the court made the same decision and traditionally postponed the sentence implementation for two years under the pretext that the shortcoming cooperated with the investigation and contributed to the identity and return of all funds illegally received by him, confiscated in the state treasury.
The court also removed the ex-official of political rights for life.
Note that in March this year, four people were held in China for drug crimes.
Earlier in China, two men who made death were executed, as a result of which more than 40 people died in November 2024.
