On the border of Estonia and the Russian Federation, a barrier trench is dripping, which is part of the first test zone of the Baltic Defense zone created by the state.
The trench coat is exactly between the fence and the border posts. It has a width of 4 m and 3 m, its goal is to create an additional barrier that will hold the enemy and devote time to the country’s defenders, the Estonian edition of ERR reports.
In this case, the anti-tank ditch, which we are talking about, will stop the enemy, he will slow him down, and if he passes through him, so to speak, the passage, he will become a very good goal for our weapons, the main lieutenant Colonel Ainar Afanasiev, the commander of engineering and Sapper.
The work is carried out using special equipment in the Border village of Vinci, located in the southeast of the country. Although most of the eastern border of Estonia passes along the reservoirs, the border passes through the forestry in the Far East, and the opposite channels are equipped in this area.
Currently, up to 4 km of barrier ditches are built, and the location of up to 28 bunkers, which will be installed before the fall, and up to ten warehouses are determined.
Binks will be built on the border lane in accordance with the analysis and needs of the country’s defense forces. In this area, they will become part of the fence of the border strip, which will help protect the border in peacetime.
It is noted that barrier ditches will be built both on state and private lands that will be bought or exchanged. The current plot is located on the ground belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia. For other sites, the design is currently ongoing.
