The transition to gasoline with bioethanol in Ukraine was postponed until January 1, 2026.
The deputy people Yaroslav Zheleznyak wrote about this in his social networks.
According to him, the corresponding amendment was introduced to the bill 13134, which was adopted today as a whole.
According to the Deputy Nina of Yuzhanin, the first argument for such a decision is the need to quickly replace the lost capacity of one of the oil refineries, which previously supplied 25-33% of gasoline and 10% diesel fuel to the market.
The deputies called the second argument that this amount of fuel can be purchased in Greece or Turkey – and from there it will be delivered without a fraction of bioethanol
It was planned that dehydrated ethyl alcohol (bioethanol) will be added to gasoline from May 1.
Bioethanol Fuel gives less harmful emissions, which is important for our country, which is prepared for EU membership.
According to the calculations of the director of “Consulting A-95” Sergey Kyun, gasoline with bioethanol at 50-80 Kopecks/L, more expensive than usual.
To date, 17 bioethanol plants with a total capacity of 420,000 tons per year work in Ukraine. In the next three years, they should be twenty.
However, from the fifth of June, the EU resumed an imported quota for Ukrainian agricultural products and, in particular, bioethanol. The quota is 100,000 tons per year.
In 2025, internal exports were supposed to reach 180,000 tons, predicted in UBA. But from the return of quotas by the end of the year, Ukraine will be able to export only 58,000 tons of bioethanol to Europe.
