The European Commission has submitted an offer to the EU council, and in the event of adoption, Ukraine will join the euro-ruming zone from January 1, 2026.
The European Commission has officially proposed the union of Ukraine in the EU Roaming Zone, beginning January 1, 2026. It was reported by the Commission’s press service on Tuesday, June 17.
Participating in the EU Roaming Zone will allow Ukrainians to use Ukrainian mobile numbers for calls, SMS and mobile Internet in all 27 EU countries at no additional cost. EU citizens traveling to Ukraine will have the same conditions.
In practice, this means that travelers from Ukraine to the EU and European guests or tourists in Ukraine can use mobile communications on their home operators’ tariffs – without further payment. We talk about calls, text messages and mobile internet.
The quality of communication and speed of the Internet will remain the same at home, and accessing emergency services is free.
The current agreement between Ukraine and EU communication operators will be expanded until December 31, 2025. This will ensure the continuation of the desirable conditions for both sides until Ukraine’s official climbing in the EU roaming zone.
The European Commission has submitted an offer to the EU council, and in the event of adoption, the European roaming zone officially joins the European roaming zone from January 1, 2026, which will provide ample time for technical training from operators both in Ukraine and EU.
It should be noted that before this, Ukraine President Vladimir Zelensky signed the EU law enforcement law in electronic communications. Thus, Ukraine took another step toward joining the European Union initiative Got home.
As we have written, Verkhovna Rada on April 15 was adopted in the second Reading Bill No. 12150 as part of Ukraine’s climb in a single roaming zone with the European Union.
Rada supported a single roaming zone with the European Union
