More than 1,700 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported in France. This was announced on July 25 by the BFMTV channel referring to the country’s Minister of Health Francois Bron.
The head of the Ministry of Health announced the opening of a large monkeypox vaccination center in Ile-de-France. Bron also announced that he will sign an order allowing all medical students to be vaccinated against the infection.
Almost half (726) of the country’s 1,567 confirmed cases of monkeypox were reported in the capital region last week, according to France’s National Health Agency.
But as of Monday night, Bron said more than 1,700 cases had now been confirmed.
WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has called the world monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency. Currently, more than 16 thousand cases of the disease have been recorded in 75 countries.
