In the Italian museum, a tourist was sitting at an exhibit of the museum – a crystal inspiration of Van Gogh – and broke it.
At the Italian Museum Palazzo Maffei in Verona, a tourist destroyed the art of art – a modern crystal interpretation of Vincent chairs with a pipe. The incident reports CNN.
The incident occurred when someone was sitting at an exhibit to take a picture. Video from surveillance cameras shows how two tourists – a man and a woman – turn away posing near the installation. Then the man sat in a chair that could not stand and break – a broken chair and the front legs collapsed. After that, the couple quickly left the hall.
The setting of the installation is Italian artist Nikola Bolla. His “Chair Van Gogh”, created in 2006-2007, was covered with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. The work was inspired by the picture of Van Gogh of 1888, depicting a simple wooden chair.
“What you just saw would be ridiculous -laugh if, unfortunately, it didn’t really happen. It was the worst nightmare for any museum,” museum director Vanessa Carlon commented on the incident. At first there are fears that the delicate structure is irreversible, but restorers have managed to restore the original look here.
The intruder identity has not been established. The museum transferred the police case.
“Special thanks to all who pass through the day -by -day halls with the museum halls with care, attention and admiration. After all, the art just doesn’t look at it. It’s to be loved,” the museum said.
