The appearance of the Ukrainians has changed the Poland economy. It became more “expert and productive”, as the poles did not lose their jobs, and increased universal work.
During the three years of stay, Ukrainian refugees have contributed to Poland GDP’s growth of more than 320 billion zlotys (about $ 85 billion at the current NBU rate), while Poland’s costs for Ukraine’s assistance during the war cost $ 2.3 billion. On Thursday, June 12, reported by the United Nations (UN), citing the Deloitte Audit Company report, which refers to the influence of Ukrainian refugees on the Poland economy.
According to the report, Poland’s economy has shown solid growth since 2022, when Russia’s entire war began against Ukraine. In the first year, GDP grew 1.5%, in 2023 – by 2.2%, and in 2024 – by 2.7%.
Analysts note that Poland’s economy has received billions -billions of receipts thanks to the existence of Ukrainian refugees, spending less.
In particular, from February 22, 2022 to June 10, 2025, Poland spent:
-
9.2 billion zlotys ($ 2.3 billion) – for the help of human and military in Ukraine;
-
31.1 Billion Zlotys – for refugee support programs.
The total cost is up to 40.3 billion zlotys, or approximately 10 billion dollars.
GDP growth at the same time reached 328.6 billion zlotys (about $ 85 billion). Thus, the income from the presence of Ukrainians exceeds the costs of 8.5 times. Only in 2024, the economic impact reached $ 25 billion – this amount completely covers costs all three years.
According to the UN, the positive dynamics are noticeable in the Poland State Budget:
-
2022 – an increase of 2% (+25 billion zlotys),
-
2023 – by 2.75% (+39.1 billion),
-
2024 – by 2.94% (+47 billion).
Deloitte experts explain this effect by the fact that Ukrainians are actively working, taxpayers and social contributions, and also bring money to the country.
Earlier it was reported that in Germany, 43% of Ukraine refugees were found in Germany.
Remember that the Federal Council of Switzerland announced new steps to simplify the employment of the people of Ukraine, who were forced to leave the country because of the war.
