Russians no longer believe that the Five NATO article works, and they want to check it, the BND leader said.
Russia considers Ukraine as an intermediate phase on the road to an attack on NATO countries. “We are really sure, and we have evidence of intelligence: Ukraine is just one step toward Russia in the west,” he said.
According to him, in the Kremlin there are those who do not believe that the NATO will respond to the case of attacking one of their members.
“They no longer believe that article five works. And they want to check it out. They want to restore NATO by the end of the 1990s. They want to throw America out of Europe and use any necessary way to achieve it,” the BND leader.
Russia may try to organize a provocation in Baltic countries based on “protecting the Russian -speaking population.” That is how, for example, it occurred in 2014, when Russia added Crimea.

“Dermination is the least bloody way to prevent war. There are no signs that Putin has changed his opinion about his aggressive approach to solving this problem,” he added.
