According to the program, Syrian families in Cyprus on the status of asylum applicants or international protection are offered by 2000 euros for an adult and 1000 euros for each child, provided they voluntarily return to Syria.
At the same time, an adult from the family can stay on the island – he will be given a special permit for residence and work for two years.
The program begins on June 2 and will last until August 31. It is introduced in coordination with the European Union.
According to official numbers, Cyprus welcomed thousands of people to flee from the war, which lasted since 2011 and ended with the collapse of the Bashar al -assad regime. Since then, about 2400 Syrians have returned to themselves, another 2500 – withdrawn statements about the provision of asylum or refused the status of a refugee.
