Germany proposes to finance the development of Ukrainian cruise missiles up to 2500 km.
It is expected that this will be officially announced today by Chancellor Friedrich Mertz during a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky in Berlin.
Zelensky flew to Berlin with the hope of getting additional weapons from the new German chancellor. However, as Bilda was known, the key weapon, which Ukraine hoped – the Taurus missile with a long distance will not be delivered. In the government, this topic is now called “taboo.”
Nevertheless, Mertz is not going to meet Zelensky empty -handed. It is expected that Germany will transfer additional MARS-2 systems to Ukraine with shooting up to 85 km. Similar attitudes have already been provided in 2022. In addition, additional deliveries of M30 and M31 missiles installed on the GPS may be possible if we make sure that Russia will successfully counteract this technology.
According to Bilda, the German government is also considering the possibility of indirect support: financing the Ukrainian defense industry. This is the distribution of large sums for the development of their own Ukrainian cruise missiles up to 2500 km.
Nevertheless, the development of the Ukrainian military industry is still in constant Russian shelling. Thus, Germany, as it became known, is also conducting negotiations on the transfer of new air defense systems. But there is a problem: even if the decision is made, the supply of these complexes will begin no earlier than in the late 2020s.

In addition to a meeting with Merz, the President of Ukraine also plans to meet with the German colleague Frank-Walter Steinmeyer specified in the office of the German chancellor in Germany.
