A Sum resident, who recently returned from a tourist trip to Tanzania to Zanzibar Island, was infected with this infection.
A deadly case of tropical malaria is registered across the region. It was reported by the Sumy Regional Center for control and prevention of diseases.
The report said that on May 25 a resident of Suma was killed, which recently returned from a tourist trip to Tanzania to Zanzibar Island and became ill with a major tropical malaria.
The latest malaria cases in the Sumy region were recorded in 2019: two in Sumy, one in Konotop.
“If you return from abroad and you have weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, increase in body temperature, you need to immediately consult a family doctor,” the center emphasized.
Malaria is a disease transmitted by mosquito bites. You can catch the illness in about 100 countries. In particular, in Africa, Asia, South and North America.
Symptoms of malaria appear 7-15 days after the bite of an infected mosquito. The first signs – fever, headache – can be poorly manifest, which is complicated to discover the disease.
Remember, according to WHO, in 2023 the number of malaria cases rose 11 million, up to 263 million.
