On the eve of the anniversary of the marine of Mariupol to Russian captivity, the delegation of the 1st corps of NSU “Azov” held a series of high-level lawyers in Berlin.
In the Bundestag, the delegation took part in a parliamentary event dedicated to the protection of prisoners of war and with the support of Bureau of Deputy Robin Vagener in cooperation with the analytical center of the European Initiative Center for Sustainability.
Representatives of democratic parties took part in this event. In particular: a member of the Defense Committee Roderich Kizvetter (CDU) and a member of the European Committee on Politics Johannes Sharps, Chairman of the European Committee on Anton Hofrter, the speaker of the Sarah Nani, member of the Agnishko Defense Committee and others. There were also experts on international law, human rights activists, journalists and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Senior sergeant Valery Gorishni, who spent two and four months in Russian captivity, testified to the conditions of detention, systematic torture, moral destruction, as well as ways of rehabilitation and return to the system.
Junior sergeant Nestor Barkchuk emphasized that torture and violence in Russian captivity are not in some cases, but a focused state policy of Russia aimed at destroying Ukrainian identity. According to him, more than 90% of Ukrainian prisoners of war are experiencing systematic torture and humiliation, so Russia should not avoid responsibility for this.
The delegation held a separate meeting on May 12 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Conrad Arc von Straussenburg and Eva Lanners, responsible for a policy in the field of Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
With the assistance of the Nazi -Ukrain Bureau, the delegation held bilateral meetings with deputies of the Bundestag and became part of the dialogue in the analytical center of the European Council on Foreign Policy on Foreign Relations.
Representatives of the delegation were also reported at the European Conference on Security Architecture and the UN International Intergovernmental Conference, organized by the Conrad Adenauer Foundation.
Germany plays an important role in the liberation of Ukrainian prisoners. His leadership is highly valued, they write in the press service of Azov.
