Information is likely to be collected using espionage programs. Who exactly behind this base collection is still unknown.
Cybersecurity specialist Dzhaere Fowler discovered a database in open access, containing more than 184 million swinging and passwords from Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Discord and much more, PCMAG reports.
According to Fowler, this is one of the most dangerous found only. Usually, such databases contain data from a company, but in this case, millions of records from the road -thousands of different services have obtained leakage. To verify information reliability, Fowler contacted some users whose email addresses appeared in the database. They confirmed that the data is valid.
The leakage volume is 47.42 GB, and among the stolen data there are accounts not only of social networks, but also bank accounts, medical platforms and government portals from various countries.
The database with 184 million notes is stored without protection on World Host Group Hosting Provider servers. Fowler discovered him on May 6. According to his estimates, the information was collected using infoSilers – malicious software, which abducted logins and passwords from browsers, mail and instant messenger customers. Such software is usually distributed by phishing letters, hacking software or malicious websites.
Interestingly, some files in the database are marked by the word Senha – this is the word Portuguese which means “password”, though the other text is in English. This may indicate the international nature of the attack. Despite the fact that after discovering the leak, accessing the base is closed, Fowler suggests that attacks may have time to copy it.
Such data usually falls into black markets in a darknet or combine with telegram channels, and then used for fraud, stealing personal information and new cyber attacks. Who exactly behind this base collection is still unknown.
We remind, earlier it was reported that hackers stole data of state institutions through phishing letters.
