Lithuania Appeal to the UN International Court in The Hague from a migration crisis of Belarus.
Lithuania requires complete compensation for the damage caused, including the cost of building a wall at the border, and also guarantees that such actions will not be repeated.
Since 2021, Lithuania has undergone an unprecedented increase in the flow of illegal migrants from Belarus. The evidence collected by the Lithuanian departments confirm the direct participation of the Belarusian regime in the organization of migrant flows, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
In total, from the very beginning of the migration crisis, the Lithuanian border guards recorded more than 23 thousand attempts to illegal border crossing from Belarus.
In particular, the participation of the government of Alexander Lukashenko in the crisis is confirmed by the fact that the state enterprises of Belarus increased the number of flights from the Middle East and other regions, organized the issuance of visas and housing for migrants.
In addition, illegal immigrants were accompanied by the Belarusian security forces and forced them to cross it, often in dangerous conditions. Despite a number of cooperation requests, the Belarusian border guards refused to cooperate with Lithuanian institutions in order to put an end to the crisis.
