Moody reduced US credit rating

Moody’s international rating agency reduced the USA credit rating of AA1 in connection with public debt growth. On Friday, May 16, the agency said in a statement.

“The US and Congress administration did not take steps to bring back the pace to a significant annual budget deficiency and an increase in interest costs,” Moody said.

It is expected that public debt will grow to nearly 134% of GDP by 2035 compared to 98% of 2024.

It is indicated that last year, the deficiency in the American budget was increased by another 13.5% and exceeded 1 trillion dollars. American television channels note that “Trump’s tariffs have slightly reduced the deficiency in the last month, but the new administration’s chaotic economic policy has not inspired investors.”

However, Moody emphasized that a reduction in the rating is not a reflection of a reduction in confidence in US institutions or the basics of the financial policy of the federal reserve system.

“The United States maintains extraordinary credit advantages, such as the size, stability and dynamism of its economy, as well as the role of the US dollar as a currency in the reserve world,” the agency said.

Of the top three rating agencies, only Moody continued to retain the US rating at the highest score, despite the increase in budget deficiency and debt burden. Standard & Poor lowered the rating on a step back in 2011 (when the Obama administration, saving the banking system from the fall, bought the banks), and in August 2023 Fitch was behind it.

Moody’s international rating agency has changed the forecast for long -term Georgia credit ratings on national and foreign currency for the “negative” co “stable”.

The Fitch International Rating Agency reduced Belarus’s long -term rating to foreign currency C “C” (“Defolt”) in RD (“Limited Defolt” or default for individual obligations).
