The EU considers the possibility of introducing duties on Russian exports to a full trade embargo.
On Friday, May 16, the Summit of the European Political Community will take place in Albania, where not only EU representatives arrive, but also their neighbors, including Great Britain and Ukraine. They will talk about a sharp strengthening of sanctions against Russia. This was reported by Politico, referring to European officials.
Two unnamed diplomats said that potential measures against Moscow may provide duties on Russian exports to a complete trade embargo.
One of the officials stated that the initiative to introduce new sanctions was inspired by the Senator -Republican Lindsay Graim, who proposed to bring 500 percent responsibilities for Russian export if Moscow did not stop the attack on Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has already arrived in Albania at the Summit of the European Political Community (EPC).
We recall that on May 14, the ambassadors of the European Union have already approved the 17th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In parallel, they also approved additional sanctions against Russia for human rights violations, hybrid interventions around the world and the spread of chemical weapons.
