A bipartisan group of senior US senators has presented a draft resolution to the Upper House that recognizes Russia’s actions in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people. The text of the document was posted on the official website of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the US Senate, Ukrinform reports.
“There is no doubt that what Russia is doing in Ukraine is genocide,” said Republican Jim Rish, one of the resolution’s sponsors.
In this regard, he recalled the crimes committed by the Russian military in Irpin, Gostomel and other Ukrainian cities.
“The international community is documenting many Russian abuses, war crimes throughout Ukraine. It’s time for the United States and the world to recognize it as such,” the senator said.
